Spreed Meeting Review
Spreed web meeting is available for free or in a variety of licensed packages. The web conferencing software is platform-independent and runs under Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
The moderator of the virtual meeting can grant an attendee moderator privileges at any time. These allow the respective attendee to import presentations and make use of the screen sharing feature.
Since the last update, the planning of meetings is also possible with local e-mail clients. However, to use this integration, the Zafara WebAccess plug-in is required.
Video conferencing is embedded in the tool but offers only the basics and is not user friendly. The videos are displayed on the left-hand side from top to bottom in a rather small format. You can select one of the webcams and have it displayed on the full screen, however this covers all the other webcams so that you really only see one contact if choosing this option.
On the positive side, web conferencing attendees can open and share multiple whiteboards and mind maps. Content can be saved locally (pdf or mm format).
Bottom line: Spreed Meeting is useful for online presentations of imported documents or brainstorming meetings with whiteboards or mind maps. However, the software lacks the possibility of working jointly on documents which are located on an attendee's local PC.
Runs on Windows 2000 or later, runs on Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, Flash Player is required
